Ferrocarril de Sóller S.A. is a privately owned company, mostly from Sóller, dedicated to regular passenger rail transport, which survives today mainly thanks to the special attraction it generates among visitors and tourists.
«To extend for another century the impressive history of the Sóller Railway as an artery of communication and transport, a source of wealth and culture, and the main attraction for visitors and tourists to the Valley of Sóller and Mallorca».
The entire management of the Sóller Railway is based on the following four concepts:
«This united will of a whole town is what made possible the project, in which so much enthusiasm and commitment had put their promoters and that is for the history of the Railway and Sóller an exemplary milestone that shows us how prosperity and development of a community can be achieved having imagination, enthusiasm and vision of the future.»[1].

The company that manages the railroad, Ferrocarril de Sóller S.A. was founded on 5 November 1905 with the support of all the inhabitants of Sóller. It is an emblematic company for Sóller and for Mallorca as a whole, given its long history, the cultural heritage it represents and its important economic and social contribution.
The concession for the operation of the railway line between Palma and Port de Sóller originally ended on April 16, 2011. . This date represents an important limitation in the economic horizon of the company Ferrocarril de Sóller S.A. and a strong restriction for a policy of necessary and desirable private investments.
In 2005 the company obtained an extension of this concession for another 50 years, so that it now ends in 2055. Conditional on heavy economic investments, this extension assures the company -and, therefore, to its employees - an important medium-term future. The Ferrocarril de Sóller has been running the 27.3 km train route between Palma de Mallorca and Sóller uninterruptedly on a daily basis since 1912, and since 1913 the 4.9 km streetcar route between Sóller and Port de Sóller.
