Esclatabutzes and events for all ages from the 13th to the 24th of August
From verbena to verbena, one of the most important summer festivals in Mallorca, the fiestas of Sant Bartomeu, are coming to the Valley of Sóller.
During most days of the month of August a wide variety of activities for all ages and tastes will be held in Sóller. Among the many events prepared by the Town Hall of Sóller we highlight the following, although each and every one is worthy of being on the list, we have not included them because of how extensive it would be, you can see the entire program by clicking on this link.
Starting the fiestas on the 13th of August from 11 am to 9 pm in C/ Cetre the Sóller Petanca tournament will be held.
On the 18th of August at 11 a.m. we will again have an open-air cinema session at Ses Escolapias with the screening of "Volando Juntos" (Flying Together).
While on the 19th of August at 7.30 p.m. the story "El misterio de la isla Suracama" will be performed in the same place. And in the evening at 8 p.m. the Plaza de la Constitución will be filled with local music. The splendid batucada group Batu-al món will open the event, followed later by a concert at 11 p.m. by the reference group in the Valley in recent years "Sa cabra que sopa", followed by O-erre, and ending with DJ Dirty Jobs.
On 20th August at 12 noon in the morning in the Sala Magna of the Town Hall the traditional Valle de Sóller 2022 Literary Awards will be presented. And at 12 midnight in the Alameda Soller Power/Summer Dance party where you can listen and dance to music from the 70s, 80s and 90s with the incomparable and incombustible local DJs Toni Socies and Rafel Tabalet, who are sure to put on a great show. From 4 a.m. onwards, the music of DJ Dit i Fet will close the events.
On 21 August from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Can Dulce Cultural Centre there will be a demonstration of craft beers. And in the evening again in the Alameda there will be a great concert by the jazz duo "Di Pinto Di Piu" formed by two greats of Sollerense music, Tomeu Marroig (Piu) and Marcelo Pinto. At 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. the ABBA tribute band will play.
On 23rd August at 11 p.m. in the Plaza de la Constitución you can attend the popular verbena with the groups Sonats, Valnou and the great DJ SKALAS.
Finally, on the 24th of August at 22:30 h. in the Plaza de la Constitución, the culmination of the summer festivities will be celebrated with the long-awaited light and colour show organised by the local group called "Esclatabutzes".
This is a show based on pyrotechnics and fireworks, and every year they manage to surprise both locals and visitors with their "performance". This year is the 25th edition, which demonstrates the quality of the shows and the overflowing enthusiasm of its members, led by Xisco Guasp and Marti Arbona, who started back in 1997.
Faithful to their summer date with the numerous spectators who flock to the Plaza de Sóller, the members of the Esclatabutzes come dressed in their characteristic devil costumes to perform all kinds of pyrotechnic shows and follow choreographies and pagan dances to the sound of drums and music specially chosen for each occasion.
The final act once the firework display is over takes place in the Market Square with a water party in which the firemen and members of the Esclatabutzes group sprinkle water on those attending the show, giving solace to the heat of the night and bringing the festivities to a close in style and starting the countdown for the following year.
